Children of the American Revolution

Subtitle

Welcome to the Lieutenant George Nixon, Sr. Society C.A.R.!

Our Society was organized on January 16, 1988, and our 30th Anniversary is this year! We are based out of San Clemente and our membership is for all of Orange County, California, as well as being one of the largest C.A.R. Societies in the state! The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.) was founded in 1895 by Harriet M. Lothrop, and is the oldest patriotic organization in the United States for children and young adults between the ages of birth to 22 years. It was founded to help instill patriotic values in America's youth. Membership is open to descendants of patriots of the American Revolution.

Our Society holds monthly meetings from September to June and work on community service projects that allow all in our membership to participate. We take great pride in helping our members follow the N.S.C.A.R.'s mission to train good citizens, develop leaders, and promote love of the United States of America and its heritage among young people.

We are sponsored by the San Clemente Island Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution

What is the C.A.R.?

C.A.R. is the nation's oldest and largest patriotic youth organization. It offers membership to anyone under the age of 22, lineally descended from someone who rendered aid to the cause of American Independence as a soldier, sailor, civil officer, or recognized patriot in one of the several Colonies, States, or of the United States.

Members gain invaluable leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates, and speaking before groups at local, state, and national conferences. The responsibility and privilege of selecting officers, helps members gain an understanding of the democratic process.
